Breaking down, building up

Just odds and ends this day. Kick on the propane heater and mull around for ideas in the newly more-organized garage. I began to look again at the upper galley cabinet face, and decided finally on a bolt-on solution for the upper face (that will be the top of the sliding cabinet faces). I drilled the holes and made my hardware shopping list.

In the photo above, we see the upper right-hand side will drilled holes. The horizontal piece has a 4-hole plate screwed into the horizontal piece at this time. I'll bolt and nut through the holes and through the other half of the plate in back.

We had a little bit of breaking down to do, as I've mentioned. I still have the old doors from which I'm pulling usable hardware. I'll toss the hinges, they aren't costly. I was looking to keep the windows and the locking door handles, most importantly.

Unfortunately, the door handles are quite corroded. I could attempt to refinish these, but I would still be concerned about the internals. I think I'll need to do some shopping. The windows are in great shape, however. I pulled one, as you can see above, and I'll snag the other shortly.

I'll begin the hunt on the 'net for handles promptly. The cold weather is back, so I'm probably best off doing some couch surfing anyway.
